Karen Miller is a 5th generation teacher. She has a BS in Education degree from Minot State University (Minot, ND) for grades 1-8 and an Early Childhood endorsement for Birth-K. She is in her 5th year as the 5th grade teacher at SSPP and is also the Science teacher for grades K-3.
Prior to this, she was the 1st Grade teacher at St. Joseph Catholic School in Coraopolis for 6 years and held other teaching roles from Pre-School to substitute teaching.
She has 3 boys (Benjamin, Nicholas, and Greyson) two of which attend Saints Peter and Paul. Karen took several years off from classroom teaching to raise her young family. During this time, Karen continued her work in education, assisting in the development of a creative, software program designed to improve overall reading comprehension, specifically for Science and Social Studies.
Mrs. Miller enjoys teaching at Catholic schools, “because it is beneficial to teach to the ‘whole child’ when you can incorporate the Golden Rule that Christ left for us to follow. I also appreciate the family atmosphere, where the teachers and families get to know each other. I love seeing all of the students progress through the grades as they grow and mature. Additionally, since I am a parishioner at Sts. Peter and Paul, and I also get to see my students and families at Mass on Sundays.”
