Today is Catechetical Sunday, the official beginning of our Religious Education programs. Special thanks to our excellent team of Religious Education leadership: Sue Bauer, Jamie Connelly, Danielle Tabin and Stasha Kaye. As well, may our Lord bless the catechists who love their faith and the children so much that they make this large dedication of time and energy.
Welcome to Fr. Pius who will be here the weekends of September 22 and 29, to speak at all nine Masses for the Annual Mission Appeal. It is important for us to hear about the health of the Church in other parts of the world. This takes on extra significance, I’m thinking, in light of the Holy Father’s recent visit to Africa.
I’m still getting lots of feedback on the picnic, as if I had something to do with it. Again, thanks to all the workers who made it happen. Very soon we will have a list to publish of all the local merchants and groups who donated towards the picnic. Please patronize these folks when possible.
Here’s a nice problem to have. All three of your priests have noticed longer confessional lines, which are a great blessing for us all. With that comes the realization we need to provide more time for this sacrament. Effective October 1, here is an expanded schedule for the Sacrament of Penance:
St. Cecilia Monday 6:00 p.m. until the beginning of Mass St. Cecilia Wednesday 6:00 p.m. until the beginning of Mass Sts. Peter and Paul Saturday Noon – 1:00 p.m. Holy Family Saturday 3:00 – 3:45 p.m.
Also, the Sacrament is always available by appointment, if needed.
