Criterion® Online Writing Evaluation Service is currently being used by the students in grades 5th through 8th.

Criterion® is an on line program that allows teachers to establish a writing “prompt” in a particular genre (narrative, short story, etc.). It also allows the teacher to establish a time span for children to work on the essay. Students write from the prompt, either in free style or after making a plan. Before a session is over, the student “submits” their essay and immediately gets feedback on the mechanics and style of their writing.

Immediate feedback allows for improved student performance. Reports can be generated for the teachers to observe and use for assessment purposes.

The 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades will be completing their Writing Assessment on Criterion each year .
