The Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) was an association established at Rome in 1562 for the purpose of providing religious education. Today, CCD refers to a religious education program of the Catholic Church, normally designed for children.
Our Lady of Valley CCD Program
It is our belief that parents are the primary catechists for their children. It is our goal to assist parents along this journey of faith by providing sacramental preparation, a faith-filled learning environment, and opportunities to serve God and others. We hope to help parents nurture in their children a love for God and others and demonstrate to the children the richness and beauty of our faith.
Our Lady of the Valley Parish students who attend public school receive their Faith Formation through our parish CCD program, which consists of class study and preparation for the reception of the sacraments. The goal of the parish CCD program is to enable and encourage the students to learn more about their faith.
RELIGIOUS EDUCATION VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
Have you felt the call to be involved with the Religious Education Program? We are always in need of volunteers to fill a variety of roles: teachers, substitutes, aides, occasional classroom assistance, just to name a few. We are also looking to restart the "Liturgy of the Word for Children" ministry at each church. If you would like to volunteer some time with the children of Our Lady of the Valley Parish, you will need to have the proper clearances, but we can help you with that. Please contact Sue, Jamie, or Stasha, if you are interested at 724-775-4111 x222.
