Congratulations to all of our boys and girls who have already or who will today meet Jesus for the first time in the Eucharist. Last weekend, First Holy Communions were celebrated at Holy Family on Saturday and St. Cecilia on Sunday. This weekend Saints Peter and Paul was Saturday and St. Felix is Sunday morning. The excitement and beauty of the children remind us, I think, of our own innocence as children of God. Hopefully, these celebrations awaken in us a desire and appreciation for this wonderful gift of God's eternal love in the
Congratulations, as well, to the young men and women who received the Sacrament of Confirmation this past Monday. Now that they are fully initiated into the Church, we need to continue to pray for them that they will grow into their proper roles of service and leadership. The Catechists have done a great job in helping them prepare for and choose Confirmation.
Our Religious Education programs have wrapped up for the year. We need to thank the many wonderful volunteers who so lovingly and faithfully give so much time for our children to learn about our faith in Jesus. Thanks to all the Catechists, aids, volunteers and, of course, our amazing Religious Education leaders: Sue Bauer, Jamie Connelly, Chris Patsch and Danielle Tokin. The leaders are working towards being a team to bring new methods, program options and a united vision to our Religious Education efforts. For next year, there will be a unified registration form and textbook coordination for all four churches. You will be able to register your child in any program that fits your family's schedule.
May is the month of Mary. A beautiful Catholic custom is the "May altar", a special spot in the home accompanied by flowers, candles and some decoration. May is a great month to get back to the Rosary. Honoring Mary will always deepen our love for her Son. There is never any competition between Jesus and Mary.
