Thanks to everyone who helped make VBS at both St. Felix and Sts. Peter and Paul go so well. There is a lot of love for our kids. This is certainly a virtue in all four parishes.
Mark your calendars. August 15 is the Feast of Mary's Assumption into Heaven and is a Holy Day of Obligation. Vigil Masses are: 4:00 p.m. at Holy Family and 7:00 p.m. at St. Cecilia.

Last week, I mentioned that the books by Bishop Barron have been ordered. They are in and are available in the rear of church. In the beginning, it felt a little harsh towards Pittsburgh and the scandal of the Grand Jury Report. This stung a bit, I admit, but once I got past it, the book turned out to be fine. It's short, readable and offers helpful perspectives for us to see how we can be both outraged at the evil of it and still choose to love and serve the Church. I think it can be a very positive resource for everyone. Joe, our Seminarian, said to make sure to read the whole book. He found the ending very helpful.
Finally, please mark your calendars and make a reservation for the combined Parish Picnic on Sunday, September 1, from 2:00-7:00 p.m. at the big pavilion in Brady's Run Park. Sign-up sheets are in the back of each church. Let's ask God for good weather, too.
Apologies to Danielle Tabin from St. Felix and Sue Bauer from Holy Family whose names I misspelled in last week'sbulletin - Mea Culpa! They are both great ministers and I would never intentionally slight them.
