The Gospel today, this 2nd Sunday of Easter, takes us always to the "doubter". St. Thomas is someone who deserves our gratitude rather than disrespect. He verbalizes what many of us might be afraid to say and then shows us that out of doubt and questioning can come a profound and deep commitment.
I am so very grateful, as I'm sure all the parishioners are with me, to everyone who helped make the Holy Week Triduum Liturgies so special: musicians, choirs, cantors, ushers, readers, servers, Eucharistic Ministers and those who decorated the churches. All four are just lovely. Thank you everyone! Also, thanks to our united Holy Name Society who organized the well attended 7 church visits on Holy Thursday.
The Holy Thursday Mass of the Lord's Supper was especially moving. I think it will be an important moment from which our joint history will grow.
Again, Easter isn't over. There is much for us to think about and pray over as we realize what the Resurrection of Jesus means for us, as individuals first and secondly as a church.
On Monday, April 29, Bishop Walterscheid is coming for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Please pray for our young men and women that they will be open to receive and live the gifts of the Holy Spirit. God bless the Confirmandi, their sponsors and parents.
Congratulations to Sean Livingston, of our parish, who receives the Eagle Scout Award on Sunday, April 28. God bless him and his parents
